Job Summary:
The Associate Buyer/Planner is responsible for providing general support to the purchasing department by managing assigned product and service categories, issues purchase orders, and manages the suppliers by monitoring supplier key performance indicators.
Responsabilities:
- Manage the supplier change notification system to update changes to specifications, assess inventory impact, and monitor change progress that is in line with cGMP standards.
- Assist in monitoring supplier performance by measuring key performance indicators and managing supplier deficiency program.
- Maintain inventory in the business enterprise management system (SAP).
- Responsible for coordinating the execution of the production/purchasing plan to support intra-departmental (production/validation/QA/QC) and sales &marketing requirements.
- Release, monitor, expedite and close work orders as required to support the Master Schedule. Update and maintain manufacturing processes and BOMS with new change orders.
- Balance and track inventory order status of finished goods and raw material against forecasted requirements. Review target stocks levels and adjust as required based on Sales input and forthcoming orders.
- Monitor and maintain up-to-date status on lot status of products produced and purchased, and provide support as needed to expedite the release process.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Background knowledge of supply base for office and IT product and services preferred.
- Must have strong analytical skills and spreadsheet analysis experience, including cost modeling. Ability to read and understand specification sheets, drawings, regulations (cGMP, QS, ISO).
- Experience in material flow process knowledge (lead time, transit times, 2 tier supply, etc.) and cost drivers is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, resolve problems, meet deadlines, and handle fast paced critical work environment.
- Self-starter, with strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze detail and perform structured decision-making on a daily basis.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking with the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Proactive, results oriented, with a strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with personnel at all levels.
- Sound knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, ERP/MRP systems for planning and purchasing (SAP experience highly desirable)
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related scientific/ technical field is preferred.
- APICS certification desirable.
- Experience in purchasing /planning is preferred.
- Pharmaceutical or bioscience industry is a plus.
- Experience handling strategic sourcing and negotiation of complex business issues and risk assessments is a plus.
- Willing to travel domestically up to 20%
Occupational Demands: Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
The estimated pay scale for the Associate Buyer / Planner role based in Los Angeles, CA starts at $ 62,376 - $77,970 per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
